Bay Pottery is a family owned business located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, Virginia tucked away among the Blue Ridge Mountains. The business was started by Joseph and Rheba McMichael back in the late 60's during the arts movement of the time. Rheba would throw pottery in the basement of their house on the Chesapeake Bay and her husband Joseph would delicately hand paint each piece. Some 50 years later, Bay Pottery has relocated a few times, refined its pieces and glazes, and is now in homes and shops all over the country! Bay represents the American Dream and shows that valuing craftsmanship and hard work results in amazing accomplishments.
At our Virginia studio, the skilled artisans of Bay Pottery design and produce unique artistic works in clay for discerning, crafty buyers and collectors everywhere. The McMichael Family continues to create handcrafted, functional, high-fired porcelain ware enhanced by our exquisite reduction-firing method. A lot of time and attention goes into each and every one of the pieces, as they are touched by hand more than 20 times throughout our process. The McMichael's love for pottery and years of perfecting the art come together to produce some of the finest high-fired stoneware on the market.
Microwave, dishwasher, & oven safe. They are sturdy, but are still breakable, so handle with care!
